WORLD MENTAL HEALTH COALITION CONFERENCE
The Dangerous State of the World and the Need for Fit Leadership
12:45pm to
5pm – 19 March 2019
National Press Club Grand Ballroom, 529 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20045
A panel of leading experts from across disciplines come together for the first time at this urgent time to discuss presidential fitness
Washington, DC — The World Mental Health Coalition (WMHC) is an organization of mental health experts whose mission is to educate and empower the public and policymakers through scientific information about dangerousness and violence risk as this information pertains to government leaders. Its service is to provide consultation to government bodies upon request, so that they may proceed with their political processes in an informed way. For future prevention of dangers, it calls for mandatory fitness-for-duty assessments for all presidential and vice-presidential candidates.
A multidisciplinary panel of scholars and mental health professionals will gather at the National Press Club to discuss the global rise of unfit leadership and the costs of mental instability in a president. We bring together nine panelists—including many of the top minds in psychiatry, law, history, political science, economics, social psychology, propaganda, climate science, and nuclear science—who share the specific ways that psychological dangerousness in the presidency translate into social, cultural, and geopolitical dangerousness.
The technology and the extensive war-making powers that are available to our president, in his unstable state, make this perhaps one of the most dangerous moments in the history of our nation and the world. Just when a correct appraisal is most urgent, expert voices are all but lacking in public discourse. We believe that clear analysis of a situation is the first step toward finding an informed and effective solution.
